What are weft hair extensions?
A weft is a row of hair joined at the top into a thin, flat strip. Instead of attaching hundreds of individual bonds, the weft is sewn onto a small, hidden row along your own hair, with no glue and no heat. The result is full, even volume that sits flat against your head.
Genius weft is the finest version: a very thin, flexible weft that lies almost flush to the scalp, so it's comfortable to wear and very hard to detect. It's the format we use most. Are slim and genius wefts worth it?
Why the hair matters more than the method
Most weft extensions in Adelaide salons are made from processed hair that has been stripped, dyed and coated in silicone to look shiny in the packet. Once the coating washes out, the hair tangles and matts, usually within 6–12 months.

How a weft install works with us
- Consultation. We assess your hair, talk through the look you want and colour-match by hand. What happens at a consultation.
- Your hair is prepared. Wefts are made up in the right lengths, weights and shade blend for you.
- Install. Rows are placed where they'll sit flat and hidden, then blended and styled into your own hair.
- Maintenance. As your hair grows, the wefts are moved back up. We set your timing at consultation.
Who weft extensions suit
Wefts suit most women who want long-wearing length and volume without bonds or tape. They're a good fit if you want the most natural result and you're happy to come back for maintenance. The hair itself lasts 2+ years with the right care when it's genuine single-donor virgin hair, compared with 6–12 months for processed hair. The install is maintained as your own hair grows, and the same hair is moved back up each time.
Do weft extensions damage your hair?
Not when they're installed correctly for your hair type. Wefts are sewn on with no glue and no heat, and we assess your hair at consultation to make sure the method and weight are right for you.
